“After two years of physical therapy to treat a spine injury, I chose Matt at Heavy Mettle Fitness to be my personal trainer and fitness/nutrition coach in the summer of 2019 to help me regain my core strength, build muscle, and shed a few pounds. After just four months training I had already lost 15 pounds and was pain-free, stronger, and felt great.

At the beginning of the pandemic we transitioned to online training to continue the progress I had made. In March of 2022 I returned to in-person training at Heavy Mettle Fitness with Matt after a neck injury from a surfing accident that resulted in a stroke. My neurologists and stroke team emphasize cardio, strength and resistance training as a significant part of recovery for stroke survivors. Twice a week Matt continues to motivate and challenge me. Even the other trainers and regular clients have become familiar sources of inspiration and encouragement that mean so much to me.
